Suppose a carrier accepts an order on Friday and promises five business days. Under DayCount’s baseline, Friday is the reference, weekends are skipped, and holidays are outside the calculation.
State the inputs
Choose Shift, Add, Business days, a Friday start date, and amount five. Do not include an end date or boundary checkbox: shifting always treats the start as a reference. This prevents Friday from being silently counted as business day one.
Walk through the weekdays
Saturday and Sunday are skipped. Monday is business day one, Tuesday two, Wednesday three, Thursday four, and Friday five. The result is the following Friday. If the amount were one, the result would be Monday, which is an easy check that the starting Friday was not counted.
Check carrier holidays and cutoffs
The example assumes no public holiday and no carrier-specific cutoff. If Monday is an excluded holiday, the expected baseline moves to the next Monday. If the order was accepted after Friday’s cutoff, the carrier may define a different start. Confirm those operational rules before promising the calculated date to a customer.
